2. My mom often told this story while I was growing up:
During her third pregnancy she wanted to take a metal spoon to the freezer wall, where all the frost had built up, and chip away at the layered ice so she could eat it! She also craved frozen french fries, right out of the bag, straight from the freezer.
3. Have you ever heard a common belief chewing ice may be an indicator anemia? (Anemia is a lower than the normal amount of healthy red blood cells.)
Someone told me that was in my 20’s. At that time I loved to get a cup of ice water, drink it, and after the ice had softened chew up the remaining ice cubes, one by one. Pebble ice is usually preferred by ice chewers… (am I wrong?!?)
What do these small-personal examples have in common?
Let’s chat about it, and make some links about what we can be doing as we recognize little hints from the body, (hinting what we may be missing) in our cells!
We are the built from the dust of the earth.
for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Genesis 3:19
Along with this verse in Genesis, I found this buddhist view so enlightening.
I read it on lionsroar.com.
This article was exploring what we perceive the human body to be. It is a very interesting, philosophical read.
The following quote came from the story about Buddha, on the night of his enlightenment, being threatened by the attack from Mara “The Evil One” and her armies that seemingly surrounded the Buddha. When he was taunted “Where is your army, oh Buddha?” Buddha touched the ground and replied,
“The Earth is my witness and support.”
In touching the Earth, the Buddha was not only calling on the Earth goddess to be his protector. He was saying, the Earth is my body. My body expresses Earth, is produced and supported by Earth, is made exclusively of Earth elements. Nothing on Earth, no matter how frightening, can threaten this indestructible Earth body. Even if it is broken up into a million pieces it remains, going home to its Mother who gave birth to it, who embraces it now and always will embrace it.
And this is exactly true of all of us. Our bodies too are the Earth. They rise up from her, and are nurtured, fed, and illuminated by her. our bodies are in constant touch with Earth, and return to Earth, from which they have never parted.

In my personal story, my body was dealing with debilitating illnesses. The weight that I felt pushing on my spirit and body seemed to be crumbling me from the inside.
I believe that I am a creation of God, organized in his likeness and image.2 And everything seemed to hurt inside of my suffering body.
You can read more about the weight that I carried in this post The Implicit Message: Is Pain Trying To Teach Me Something?
(I wrote this as a process to discover what was happening inside of me.)
So what did I need?
I DID NOT want to feel this way!
But more than embracing a personal discovery process, I desired with all of being, to be restored.
Just like a crumbling building, I needed new supplies in order to renew my body. I also needed to understand if my foundation, was in fact, stable.
Because of my health, my interior walls started shaking. I had a beautiful family to love and who loved me, but I was sick. And I didn’t want to risk loosing them. I didn’t ever get a diagnosis that was helpful although I have been going to receive medical attention for 10 years now.
I have written more about where my health journey began in this post: Why I Started Seeking.
In these dim moments, I chose not to swallow pain pills to take away the misery. I knew there were side-effects to those.
What I wanted was to rid myself of the fatigue and pain.
Eight years ago I started researching the cause of my chronic pain, and I haven’t stopped.
In my research I have have been discovering some of the foundational principals of health that often aren’t talked about.
Remember the three examples listed at the beginning of the post.
I believe that those were all signals from the mind and body for the need of more MINERALS.
From the spiritual insight listed above, it mentions that our human body is DUST, or EARTH. We are created from the basic elements. These are sediments that our food pulls from the soil as it grows. Elementally we are build from the MINERALS that are received from the earth.
Specific MINERALS are the “supplies” that we need to restore our physical body as a structural frame.
Imagine your body being the crumbling building (pictured below). Minerals in the food we consume could be compared to the tiny little pieces of sand that are used and compressed, to form a brick.
I’m 36 years old and I can’t start again with brand new “bricks”, but I can begin to strengthen the stucture that I do have by giving my body what it needs to make new cells. Therefore, by increasing my own personal mineral intake, I believe that I can support new cell growth.
During this process of cell renewal, the old cells make their way out of the body or slough off.
It takes time to replenish these tiny little pieces of metaphorical “sand”, in order to restore or even improve health. The cell renewal process takes time. But I believe a renewal process can take place!
So that begs these questions.
2. And what if we don’t get these minerals through the gestational or maturation process?
First question: What are the crucial and vital minerals that are used by each cell?
This is a list of the MAIN minerals that the body’s cells need to function optimally.
In this YouTube Video I talk about the benefits the body receives when we get an adequate amount of these minerals daily.
These minerals are plentiful in unprocessed, whole foods. Especially foods that are home-grown!
The second question is: What if we don’t get these minerals through the gestational or maturation process?
If you choose so, RIGHT NOW—it’s time time to rebuild!
(There are blood tests and hair analysis that measure mineral status, but you won’t be able to get them at a traditional doctor’s office. It is best when diving deeper into these kinds of details to find a naturopathic doctor or a biological dentist or a nutritionist that has a specifically focuses on rebuilding minerals.)
I’ve made a small list of resources on my website to give you a starting point to find a mineral focused specialist!
The following is a list of suggestions to naturally start adding minerals to beverages!
Let me know what you come up with, in your own home, after reading this list of…
Juicing fresh fruits and vegetables are an excellent way to get a power punch of minerals. For me, juicing wasn’t working anymore. I talk about that in this YouTube video. I did think juicing was a great place to start and I’m glad I did it.
I am also glad I don’t do it anymore! (There is a time and a season for most things.) I now get minerals in my diet in other ways.
If you don’t have time to juice (or don’t like it) here is another easy fresh way to liven up your water.
#1 Make Spa Water!
I use natural spring water (I found my spring at findaspring.org) then I added cucumber slices and fresh mint to the water. Other fruits and vegetables can work as well.
I really love watermelon slices or strawberry slices sitting in my water.
In addition, fresh or filtered water with a lemon squeezed into it will help the cells to sing. Healthy cell renewal is the goal as we are working to restore our bodies!
Lemons have the sodium mineral balance needed by the body and a little sugar. Sugar helps with energy! So my next suggestion is…
#2 Lemon Water!
Juice a whole lemon and add it into the water.
Lemon water can seem a little tart, especially if you are used to sugary drinks or sodas. Just give it some time and keep trying! The goal is to support the body in building new-healthy cells! As we slowly teach our bodies to appreciate this change it will delight in this sunshine illuminated drink!
Another tip for adding minerals to our drinks, is add mineral drops. I personally started adding these Trace Mineral Drops into my routine for the last two months. The first week that I used it, adding it to my water, I had big blistering sores on my lower back.
Sores like this indicated to me that the process of RENEWAL was actually happening! It meant that the body was trying to purge, or get rid of the junk that was stored inside of it. Sores or side-effects like mine, need to be cared for like wounds. But like wounds they aren’t permanent and they will heal. This is part of the process of cell renewal. When new-healthy cell growth, it crowds out the old-unhealthy cell. The cells are RENEWED.
These drops are concentrated water out of the Great Salt Lake. There is a list of minerals that the drops provide while supplementing with them on the Trace Minerals website. These drops offer a balanced offering of electrolytes that the cell needs.
#3 Add Mineral Drops into Filtered Water!
I only add six drops into a 8 oz glass of water. It doesn’t take much, but consistency will be the key!!
One of the most balanced unprocessed drinks that is on the market is coconut water!
Coconut water has been my friend for many years now! Although, it did take me some time to appreciate the taste, and now my tastebuds love it! I especially like it chilled. I buy it in boxes at the store.
Some companies add cane sugar to the coconut water, so if you are shopping and there are different brands side by side check the ingredient label. In my opinion, coconut water doesn’t need to have cane sugar added. It is already naturally sweetened and has a nice balance of sugar that the body can easily metabolize.
Coconut water has a optimal balance of sodium and additional minerals that it soaks up from the sea. This is where coconut trees thrive—by the ocean!
#4 Purchase and Drink Coconut Water!
This beverage holds a beautiful balance of sodium (the sodium that cells thrive on) potassium and water! If you need a quick afternoon pick me up, I believe that this is a perfect natural electrolyte beverage to consume!
The last beverage on my list I would say is one of the most important. Finding a natural spring or pure water source is one of the most beneficial things that you can do for you, or you and your family. This is picture of the artesian well that I go to in Salt Lake City, UT USA on the corner of 800 S. 500 E.
This water travels from a natural aquifer for a few miles down the mountain. Natural spring water holds a list of benefits for the consumer. Natural minerals being at the top of the list! Well water may be a great option if you have a resource to someone with a well.
#5 Natural Spring Water.
This water, although it varies, usually has a higher mineral count! You can find a natural spring closer to your home at findaspring.org .
Please don’t mistake the bottled electrolyte waters and marketed drinks to be filled with the beneficial good minerals that are listed on the label. These drinks are full of acids, processed sugars and machine made hydrogen that doesn’t replicate what we can receive from a more natural source. If you are having a challenging time with your health you may want to take into account what beverages that you are consuming.
This is at utmost importance if you are trying to heal from a disease or lingering illness!
Through my research the last couple of weeks, I have found as we put pure water, and unprocessed foods into our bodies that our cells can accept them easier.
In this video, I share a little more about my story and give tips that are similar to ones in this post.
Thanks for being here! If you ever feel like it is too much to do “one more thing”, I’ve been there. Try doing one thing because you have a reason to live a healthier life! List how you would like to feel in the comments below!
I’ll be continuing to share my thoughts with you as I grow, mend and restore!
Until then, happy healing!

One final note about living water.
I can feel resonance with teachers like Veta Austin, and Mae-Wan Ho. Their teachings invite us to believe that communication and connection happen at the smallest molecular level.

One note on cellular health that ties well with this article.
Another crucial mineral that I have been lacking in my diet is copper. I haven’t written much about the need for copper yet, because I am still in my beginning stages of discovering the benefits of naturally sourced copper as I have added it to my diet. If you have experimented with copper, will you please let me know in the comments below? I would love to chat about it!
