***It is important to note that I do not write as a medical professional. I write as an individual trying to understand and navigate how to heal from my own chronic illness. The following is truth resourced from what I have studied and in my opinion makes sense to me, as I navigate my own healing. The word truth is in the title of my personal blog, and that is what I am seeking, more truth. It comes from a phrase from the bible which states, “…the truth shall set you free.” -John 8:23 (BSB) And that is what I am seeking—freedom from the symptoms that i am experiencing. This is not medical advice.***
Are you ready to understand what is actually the cause of your illness or suffering. Do you have a chronic condition that isn’t explained?
I would like to help you step into the driver’s seat in your own personal journey as you begin to discover what is behind your physical suffering or chronic pain.
You are uniquely you! In this post I will give 5 categories for the causes of illness, but only you will begin to understand what you personally have stepped into during your life time! As you read, take notes! And please don’t get overwhelmed.
If you do, take a big deep breath and return to this post sometime soon.
I believe that God, in wisdom and through unique ways will begin to speak to you. It’s your turn to be in the driver’s seat, creating an understanding of what is going on with your own health.
Before I explain the FIVE main Factors that are the cause of disease, let me first explain diagnoses.
In the western world, meaning the parts of the world that comes from European heritage. The medical system uses certain criteria and systems to give a title of or a name to the physical symptoms that someone is experiencing, or through modern technology medical personnel use information that was detected by a scan or in blood work.
This is how the system works. It is a label. It may categorize a patient, help them make sense of their symptoms and lead to treatment. Doctor’s or practitioners that work in the main stream medical system have criteria that they follow. Often a medication is prescribed, or a certain steps are given to prevent the progression of the illness.
Stick around for the end of the article where we explore the original meaning of diagnosis. It is so interesting as the meaning has changed through the centuries.
If you have been to the doctor, and you have received a title or a category that gives a label to the symptoms, was that enough?
Is the medication that you are taking enough? Is it helping?
If it is, I will be the first to say, KEEP GOING! Live and Love! I am so proud of you!
AND
if you are reading this you are probably looking for more information. Maybe a why? Why am I having these symptoms?
I take care of my body and I have still been diagnosed with a disease.
Maybe you are someone who has had a side effect to a medication.
Or maybe you are like me. You left the doctor’s office wondering if you would ever feel healthy. The only explanation that you received was “Inflammation”—“It seems like your ______ is inflamed”. (I left a blank, because I have had so many parts of my body that feel inflamed in the last twelve years.)
What does “you have inflammation” even mean?
This lack of diagnoses sent me searching. I’ve spent the last twelve years trying to understand what inflammation is, and why it feels like my body is so inflamed.
As I’ve really looked into my own illness, and learned a variety of different healing modalities, I believe that there is a reason that the body is reacting with pain or symptoms that don’t seem natural.
After studying Anthony William’s work and then experimenting with my own body, here is what I have come to believe is the ROOT CAUSE of DISEASE at a physical level.
Most of the list of items can be seen under a microscope, or viewed in scans, or can be found in blood tests or hair analysis.
They aren’t made up, they are actually are hindering the body at the physical level to work properly. A majority of these items can contribute to inflammation by hindering the cell to produce oxygen (in its pure form) and water (which our body’s critically need because the majority of our molecular structure is water.) And this water is then converted into energy!! 1
Our bodies are amazing, and when they are given the right fuel and environment, I believe that they function beautifully!
In a perfect world the body should function optimally, but the world that I grew up in didn’t operate perfectly!
You can read more about the symptoms that I was experiencing in this blog post: Why I Started Seeking.
Later, in my investigative journey, I realized that I have been exposed to or have been hindered from the effects of all five of these categories.
To develop a little bit of understanding behind the first four let me point out some obvious (or if you are new to this world, NOT SO OBVIOUS) information.
Let’s start with Pathogens
A virus is a pathogen.
A common cold or flu bug is a pathogen. There are a few other pathogen that I will add to the list so it hopefully makes sense.
Fungus, which is the category that mold, and yeast fall under, are pathogens. Have you heard of mold toxicity being a reason for why someone you know is sick?
Bacteria that is unhealthy bacteria is a pathogen. Let me be clear, bacteria is vital to life. There are trillions of healthy bacteria in our systems and beneficial bacteria helps our inner environment thrive. My point being, not all bacteria is bad. It is the bacteria that grows, thrives and creates infections that I referencing here. Who’s had a case of strep throat before (raise your hand)!
And the last biggie (there are more, but this is the last bug that i’m going to mention) is parasites.
So yes, to visualize pathogen as something that can spread, grow, or multiply, may be helpful for you!
Let’s keep discovering!
Environmental Toxins
The grocery store kitchen cleaner, the perfume that your boyfriend bought you for Christmas and the air-freshener that is hanging in your car all contain chemicals.
It’s seems overwhelming, and I could make a huge list! But for the purposes of this post the point I would like to make is—these aren’t natural for the body. The body has this wonderful cleaning system and filter (THE LIVER) and so we can mostly function in a chemically filled society, but sometimes the liver gets overwhelmed and can’t do all of the “internal housework” so to speak.
So in the path of less overwhelm, start researching this category slowly. My favorite resource to learn from about this specific category is Karalynn Call @justingredients on Instagram. (Resources and lists on her website of clean swaps!)
Heavy Metals
I had no idea that heavy metals were contributing to my illness until Anthony William taught me about them.
Here is a blog post that offers a quick deep dive into what he teaches out them. Again, not the overwhelm—but I believe that knowledge is power!
Troublemakers That Make Us Sick: Toxic Heavy Metals
Four common ways that we get heavy metals into our bodies, is
Radiation
Receiving radiation is inevitable in our day and age. It’s in our homes with the use of our cell phones and wifi. Our medical system uses it to treat growing tumors. We are exposed to a higher amount of radiation during air travel, because the body is closer to the sun. Radiation can have damaging effects on the body’s cells.
This is the category that I know least about, but I know that I have daily exposure to radiation.
And I also know how to reduce exposer. One of the greatest ways is to put my feet in the ground. The ground has a neutralizing effect and removes the positive charge that radiation gives to the body. 3
EMF is largely talked about in the holistic community. EMF stands for Electric and magnetic fields. It is the measurement of electricity that is in the area. This explains radiation more clearly. If you are interested in understanding the electrical activity in your environment, you can order an EMF meter off of amazon and begin to understand the electrical environment in your own home.
This last category, Accidents or Surgeries is one that I uniquely added to the list.
I couldn’t leave it out because understanding the impact and the damage that I received through different events in my life HAVE had an impact of how quickly it took me to recover. I was fighting an uphill battle with a dislocated spine for most of my life and didn’t know it. This was an important key piece to learn for my physical healing. This specific injury was corrected by a chiropractor that specialized in putting that specific area of the spine back into place. It wasn’t a quick correction either. It took a year and a half of regular treatments.
One surgery that I had left holes where bacteria was held and what creating a constant infection that I didn’t know about. This was a perfect example of a principal that I have learned often in my healing journey; when something in the body is removed, something else is bound to step in and take its place.
Here is a quick view of what I believe is a leading to chronic disease. To build on the number five factor it takes another explanation of linking brain and body.
I will write more in this post, The Body Keeps Score, where I will explain it a little bit deeper.
The body is amazing! It should function properly if the items on the list are decreased!
I believe that the effects from exposure to the physical items on this list can be reduced, or they can be removed from the body.
I believe in healthy cell growth and renewal. BUT it does take some change in our patterns and behaviors. (Knowledge is power!) And with that, it leads to choice!
A question for you:
Would it be helpful to know that there
is a cause behind your symptoms?
The last thing I leave as a takeaway, as promised! Let’s look into what diagnosis actually means.
The Greek etymology of the word Dia = to separate and take apart, and understand what is in-between. Gnosis = wisdom, to discern.
When we understand the origin of such words, we can see that it is meant to give us a pause, to use our wisdom apart from something, to read between the lines. 5
So I offer the invitation to you. Tap into your wisdom, what have you been exposed to that may be contributing to your disease.
It is easy to dismiss this list, but I think that would be unfair to you. What parts of your story are coming up for you?
I hope that you continue reading and discover more the the parts that need healing.
Lots of Love!
